MULTIMODAL ESSAY: THE HUNGER GAMES

Katniss Everdeen, The Girl on Fire

The world in which Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games trilogy takes place is one heavily marked by power, whether it be the usage of, the strive for, or the lack of. Katniss is the central protagonist of these novels and she is the perfect embodiment of this struggle as she exists in a world designed to leave her feeling powerless and yet over the course of these novels she manages to regain power not only for herself but also for everyone else around her. The question and struggle with power and powerlessness in these novels all ties directly to her and thus I will be tackling it as such. Across the pages of this website exists my multimodal essay tackling this idea through a blend of text, music, pictures, and digitally edited and created pictures of scenes and characters I made utilizing a video game called The Sims 4. Through the utilization of these mediums, I strive to convey how I see Katniss, the process of her journey from powerless to powerful, and how her character as a whole affected and continues to affect me.
